Kenyan motorists and businesses are set to enjoy some relief after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) announced a significant reduction in diesel prices in its latest monthly fuel review.
Under the new pricing cycle running from June 15 to July 14, 2026, the cost of diesel has been reduced by KSh10 per litre, while super petrol has recorded a slight decrease of KSh0.22 per litre. Kerosene prices, however, remain unchanged.
New Fuel Prices in Nairobi
Following the latest review, motorists in Nairobi will pay:
- Super Petrol: KSh214.03 per litre
- Diesel: KSh222.86 per litre
- Kerosene: KSh191.38 per litre
The revised prices took effect at midnight and will remain in force for the next 30 days.
Relief for Transport Sector and Businesses
The reduction in diesel prices is expected to ease operating costs for public transport operators, logistics firms, manufacturers, and businesses that heavily rely on diesel-powered machinery and vehicles.
Lower fuel costs could also help stabilize transport charges and contribute to reducing pressure on the cost of living for many Kenyans.
Government Continues Fuel Price Stabilisation
EPRA said the government will continue using the Petroleum Development Levy (PDL) Fund to cushion consumers against high global oil prices. Approximately KSh10 billion has been allocated to subsidize diesel and kerosene prices during the current review period.
Changes in Global Fuel Costs
According to the regulator, fluctuations in international fuel prices influenced the latest adjustments.
The average landed cost of imported super petrol declined by 0.56 percent, falling from US$906.23 per cubic metre in April to US$901.16 in May.
Meanwhile, diesel registered a slight increase of 0.21 percent, rising to US$1,294.71 per cubic metre, while kerosene prices dropped by 0.33 percent to US$1,328.36 per cubic metre.
What the New EPRA Fuel Prices Mean for Kenyans
The latest fuel review provides much-needed relief after recent price increases that had raised concerns among motorists and transport operators. The KSh10 reduction in diesel prices is particularly welcome for sectors that depend heavily on fuel, potentially lowering operating expenses and supporting economic activity across the country.
