The Public Service Commission (PSC) has officially launched a recruitment drive for leadership roles at the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), inviting qualified Kenyans to apply for key positions that will shape the country’s agenda on unity and ethnic relations.
In a notice published on January 31, 2026, the PSC’s selection panel, headed by Reuben Chirchir, declared vacancies for the NCIC Chairperson and seven commissioner roles. Prospective candidates are encouraged to submit their applications by Friday, February 13, 2026.

A degree from a recognised Kenyan university

Minimum 10 years’ experience in areas such as public affairs, human rights, peace and security, and ethnic relations

Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution on leadership and integrity.
Requirements for Commission Members
Those aspiring to be members of the NCIC must also:

Hold a relevant degree

Have at least two years’ professional experience in related fields

Fulfil the constitutional integrity standards set out in Chapter Six.
Who Is Disqualified?
The NCIC Act outlines certain ineligibility conditions, including:

Members of political party governing bodies

Individuals with partisan ethnic affiliations

Former NCIC commissioners

Persons previously removed from public office for constitutional breaches
