Respect Is a Two-Way Street, Kindiki Warns Kalonzo Over Unprompted Assault.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has responded sharply to Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, urging him to refrain from public barbs, while also affirming mutual respect as a cornerstone of leadership.

Speaking via X (formerly Twitter), Kindiki acknowledged Kalonzo’s declaration that he has no intention of working with him politically and welcomed it. However, he expressed concern over ongoing negative remarks.

“For the unkind things he has said about me, I won’t answer him back publicly, not because I can’t, but because I never do public duels with people I respect,” Kindiki posted.

He added that persistent unprovoked criticism will compel him to respond robustly: “Respect is a two-way street.”

Despite the tension, Kindiki reiterated that Kalonzo remains like an “elder brother” to him, a longstanding figure deserving of deference.

Kindiki emphasized that the government remains committed to its agenda—pushing forward development projects for all Kenyans, irrespective of political affiliation.

Kalonzo, speaking in Ngong during a church service on Sunday, rejected Kindiki’s overtures. He accused the government of using his name to advance its Ukambani empowerment initiatives, and blamed Kindiki for not apologizing over the June 2024 protest deaths and the killing of blogger Albert Ojwang, crimes committed when he served as Interior Cabinet Secretary.

He made it clear he will only consider cooperation if Kindiki issues public apologies for those incidents.
