The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has officially released the registration schedule for the 2026 Business and Technical examinations, giving institutions and candidates ample time to prepare for the upcoming assessment period.
According to a notice issued by the examinations body, online registration for candidates sitting the November 2026 examination series will begin on July 6, 2026, and close on September 11, 2026. The exercise will mainly target institutional candidates undertaking business single subjects and group subjects under technical and vocational programmes.
Registration to Be Conducted Online
KNEC emphasized that all registrations will be carried out electronically through its official examination portal. Institutions have been advised to ensure that candidate information is submitted accurately and within the specified period to avoid disruptions during the examination process.
Candidates and institutions can access the registration platform through the official KNEC portals.
November 2026 Examination Dates
The practical and theory examinations for the November 2026 series are scheduled to run from November 16 to December 4, 2026. KNEC has also set October 23, 2026, as the deadline for submitting coursework assessment and project marks.
Advance instructions for practical papers will be available from October 12, 2026, while hospitality practical planning activities are expected to commence on November 11, 2026.
Registration Timelines for 2027 Examination Series
Besides the November 2026 examinations, KNEC has outlined registration periods for the 2027 examination series:
March 2027 Series
- Registration period: November 2, 2026 – January 8, 2027
- Examination period: March 15 – April 2, 2027
- Deadline for coursework and project marks: February 26, 2027
July 2027 Series
- Registration period: March 1 – May 7, 2027
- Examination period: July 19 – August 6, 2027
- Coursework submission deadline: June 25, 2027.
No Provision for Late Registration
KNEC has warned institutions and candidates that there will be no late registration window. Stakeholders have been urged to comply with the stipulated timelines to avoid inconveniences and ensure smooth administration of examinations.
The council noted that timely registration is essential for effective planning, proper management of candidate records, and successful administration of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) examinations.
As Kenya continues to digitize examination services, KNEC's online registration system is expected to enhance efficiency and improve the management of business and technical examinations across the country.
