Residents of Sinendet in Njoro Sub-County, Nakuru County, are mourning the tragic death of a Grade Six pupil whose body was discovered in a maize plantation after she went missing on her way to school.
The young girl, identified as Mercy Nyambura Mureithi, reportedly left home on Monday morning heading to school but failed to return later in the evening, sparking panic among family members and residents. A frantic search was launched before her lifeless body was eventually found hidden inside a maize plantation in the area.
According to local reports, the schoolgirl is believed to have suffered a brutal attack before her death. Area residents described the incident as horrifying and called on authorities to move swiftly in identifying and arresting those responsible.
The shocking incident has left the community gripped by fear, with parents expressing concern over the safety of children in the region. Residents also raised alarm over rising insecurity, drug abuse, and criminal activities affecting the area.
