Man Impersonating Police Officer Arrested After Stealing Loaded Gun at Kitale Station

A dramatic security breach unfolded at a police station in Kitale after a man posing as a newly transferred police officer allegedly sneaked into the facility and stole a loaded firearm before fleeing the scene.

According to reports, the suspect arrived at the station wearing police gear and introduced himself as an officer who had recently been posted from Eldoret. His appearance and confidence reportedly convinced officers at the station that he was a legitimate member of the service.

Investigators say the man managed to interact freely within the station before targeting an officer stationed at the gate. The suspect allegedly requested to inspect the firearm before escaping with the loaded weapon. Witnesses indicated that he quickly boarded a motorcycle that had reportedly been waiting nearby, suggesting the theft may have been carefully planned.

The incident sparked an immediate security operation as detectives launched investigations to trace the suspect and recover the stolen firearm. Authorities later confirmed that officers managed to track down and arrest the man following the daring theft.

The shocking incident has once again raised concerns over security procedures within police stations and the verification process for newly posted officers. Kenyans on social media also questioned how an outsider could gain access to a restricted area and walk away with a loaded gun without immediate suspicion.

Cases of individuals impersonating police officers have previously made headlines in Kenya, with authorities repeatedly warning the public and security agencies to remain vigilant against fraudsters using fake uniforms and identities.
