Kenya and Germany have strengthened their partnership in green technology and sustainable industrial development as leaders from both nations met during the 4th Green Hydrogen Summit.
The discussions focused on expanding investments in renewable energy, technology transfer, digital innovation, and skills development aimed at preparing Kenya for a competitive green economy. German officials reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Kenya through financing, technical expertise, and policy collaboration to accelerate the country’s transition to clean energy.
A major highlight of the partnership is the growing focus on green hydrogen technology. More than 40 trainers have already been equipped with specialized knowledge to support training programs in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions across Kenya. The initiative is expected to help build a skilled workforce capable of supporting future green energy industries.
The summit also brought together policymakers, investors, technology experts, and industry stakeholders to discuss how renewable energy can drive industrial growth, job creation, and climate resilience. Delegates participated in high-level discussions covering sustainable manufacturing, energy infrastructure, innovation, and investment opportunities in Africa’s emerging green economy.
Beyond renewable energy, Kenya and Germany are also expanding cooperation in artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and business outsourcing. Earlier engagements between the two governments explored collaboration on AI regulations, innovation ecosystems, and digital infrastructure as Kenya continues positioning itself as a regional technology hub.
The partnership comes at a time when Kenya is attracting increasing global attention in the technology sector through initiatives such as AI-focused conferences, digital infrastructure investments, and clean energy projects. Analysts believe stronger collaboration with Germany could help accelerate Kenya’s industrial transformation while opening up new opportunities for local businesses, startups, and skilled professionals.
Germany has also continued supporting Kenya in skills development, labour mobility, and entrepreneurship programs designed to create employment opportunities for young people. Ongoing collaborations between the two countries are expected to further strengthen innovation, sustainable development, and economic growth in the coming years.
