Huduma Kenya Calls on Kenyans to Collect IDs, Birth Certificates and Smart Driving Licences

Huduma Kenya has announced that thousands of processed government documents are now ready for collection, urging applicants across the country to visit their designated Huduma Centres without delay.

According to the agency, the latest batch includes more than 178,000 national identity cards, over 100,000 smart driving licences, and nearly 30,000 birth certificates that have already been processed and are waiting to be picked up.

The government agency emphasized that applicants should carry their identification documents and collection slips when visiting Huduma Centres to avoid inconveniences during the collection process. Officials warned that failure to collect processed documents continues to create congestion and storage challenges in government offices nationwide.

The directive comes amid growing concern over the rising number of unclaimed documents in Kenya. Earlier this year, Huduma Kenya revealed that hundreds of thousands of IDs, birth certificates, and smart driving licences had remained uncollected despite being fully processed.

Government officials say timely collection of these documents is important because they are required for accessing critical services such as job applications, banking, passport processing, education registration, and other official transactions. Delayed collection also slows down operations at registration centres and affects service delivery efficiency.

To improve accessibility, several major Huduma Centres across the country have extended their operating hours from 7am to 7pm. The extended schedule is expected to help Kenyans who are unable to visit the centres during normal working hours.

Huduma Kenya has also encouraged applicants to remain alert against fraudsters, noting that official communication regarding document collection is only made through verified channels, including the toll-free number 1919 and official Huduma contacts.

Applicants seeking additional information or confirmation about their documents can visit the official Huduma Kenya website or contact the nearest Huduma Centre for assistance.
