Brentford Fight Back Twice to Hold Crystal Palace in Premier League Thriller

Brentford produced a dramatic late comeback to secure a 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace in an entertaining English Premier League clash at the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday.

The visitors made the brighter start and grabbed an early lead in the sixth minute after Ismaila Sarr calmly converted from the penalty spot. The penalty was awarded following a foul by Brentford goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, giving Palace the perfect opening in the high-stakes Matchday 37 encounter.

Despite Crystal Palace controlling large portions of the first half, Brentford found a way back into the contest before the break. Burkina Faso international Dango Ouattara rose highest in the 40th minute to head home the equaliser and ignite the home crowd.

Palace regained their advantage shortly after halftime through Adam Wharton, who scored his first goal for the club with a composed finish in the 52nd minute. The midfielder’s strike appeared to put the Eagles on course for all three points as Brentford struggled to create clear-cut opportunities for much of the second half.

However, Brentford refused to give up. With just two minutes remaining, Ouattara struck again, heading in from close range after a flick-on by Sepp van den Berg following a long throw into the box. The late equaliser rescued an important point for the Bees as they continue pushing for a possible European qualification spot heading into the final round of the season.

The draw leaves Brentford still battling in the crowded race for European football, while Crystal Palace will feel disappointed after surrendering the lead twice despite producing several strong attacking moments throughout the match.
