HELB Disburses KSh 9.46 Billion to Over 309,000 University Students.


The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has disbursed KSh 9.46 billion to support 309,178 university students across Kenya’s public universities.

Breakdown of the Disbursement

  • KSh 5.76 billion allocated for tuition fees

  • KSh 3.70 billion allocated for student upkeep 

Government’s Commitment to Affordable Education

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba confirmed that dispersals were made today and emphasized the government’s enduring pledge to keep higher education affordable and accessible. “The government will continue to provide the requisite funding to ensure that higher education remains accessible and affordable, and that no student is left behind on account of financial limitations,” he stated. 

This round of disbursements is set to relieve financial strain for thousands of households and support uninterrupted learning at institutions dependent on timely tuition inflows.

Students are urged to log into their HELB portals immediately to confirm receipt of the funds and view their individual account details.
