Rick Buckler of The Jam Passes Away at 69: A Tribute to the Legendary Drummer’s Legacy.

Rick Buckler, the influential drummer for the British band The Jam, has passed away at the age of 69 following a brief illness. His management confirmed that he died peacefully in Woking, surrounded by family.

Buckler was a key member of The Jam during the late 1970s punk and new wave scene, alongside bassist Bruce Foxton and lead vocalist/guitarist Paul Weller. The trio achieved significant success with 18 consecutive UK Top 40 singles, including iconic tracks like "Town Called Malice" and "Going Underground."

Reflecting on Buckler's passing, Paul Weller expressed his sorrow, recalling their early days rehearsing together and the journey they embarked upon. Bruce Foxton also paid tribute, highlighting Buckler's innovative drumming that helped shape their music.

After The Jam disbanded in 1982, Buckler explored various ventures, including collaborations with Foxton and pursuits in writing and furniture design. He authored several books, notably his autobiography "That's Entertainment: My Life in The Jam."

Buckler is survived by his wife and two children. He had planned a UK Q&A tour titled "A Night of Memories and Music" later this year, which was postponed due to his health.
